VOX 2013

 

First of all myself and everybody there I’m sure would like to thank the fantastic work by Gina Mellotte, Posy Brewer and Mark Manchester, as well as all those behind the scenes, on holding a fantastic event.

I think everyone left on Sunday morning, or afternoon in some cases, feeling that they’d attended a really worth while event which catered for just about everyone, from round table discussions covering studio and financial queries, to looking into new markets with voicing for games.

Mid afternoon saw ‘Voice Direction’ tips with Sarah Hashem and ‘An Introduction to Pro Tools’ with James Ivey, both drawing big crowds keen to learn and get an insight into the way the speakers worked on a daily basis.

The final session of the day was hosted by Phil Sayer, a panel discussion on one of the industry’s biggest  talking points ‘What’s the going rate?’ Many people are in favour of the Equity Rate Card, others are not so keen claiming its format is completely unfit for purpose,  but it was interesting to hear both points of view aired by John Myers, Chris Kent, Phil Brice and Kate Moon.

Following the drinks reception and dinner the Vox Awards were announced with the big winners being Piers Gibbon and Louisa Gummer for Best Male and Female Voice performance respectively.
